In a bid to strengthen trade ties between Sri Lanka and Poland, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Poland, Priyangika Dharmasena, met with Katarzyna Kaniewska, the Regional Director of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, for a luncheon meeting on October 6, 2024. The discussion centered on expanding trade relations beyond the existing exports of tea and textiles from Sri Lanka.

During the meeting, Ambassador Dharmasena emphasized Sri Lanka’s potential to introduce a wider range of products to the Polish market. She proposed several initiatives, including the organization of a Polish trade delegation to visit Sri Lanka and explore its business environment. Furthermore, she suggested hosting an online seminar to educate Polish business leaders about Sri Lanka’s trading opportunities and highlight potential products for export.

Director Kaniewska welcomed these proposals, expressing the Polish Chamber of Commerce’s readiness to collaborate on initiatives aimed at furthering trade relations between the two nations. This meeting marks a significant step towards diversifying the economic ties between Sri Lanka and Poland, opening doors for new market opportunities.

Both parties expressed optimism about the future of trade relations, aiming to create mutual benefits through expanded cooperation.
