The police have launched an investigation into a pre-wedding photo shoot at Sri Lanka’s revered Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalanda Maligawa) in Kandy. A newly engaged couple hired a professional photographer to take pictures inside and outside the temple and posted them on social media. Despite restrictions on photography at the temple, the couple took these photos with the permission of a monk from a well-known temple in Kandy.
It is believed that the groom’s father, who has connections with temple officials, may have facilitated this event. However, the Diwadana Nilame, Mr. Pradip Nilanga Dela, stated that he was unaware of the photography session, which took place during a period of strict security.
The couple and the photographer have been summoned to the Kandy police station today (September 9) for questioning.
