Former Member of Parliament Thalatha Athukorala announced her support for President Ranil Wickremesinghe at an election rally in Welimada.
During the rally, Athukorala publicly apologized for her decision to leave the United National Party (UNP) and join the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) during the last parliamentary election.
She recently resigned from Parliament and left the SJB, where she had represented the Ratnapura District. Athukorala, the sister of the late veteran politician Gamini Athukorala, attended the rally today around 4:00 p.m. to show her support for President Wickremesinghe.
