Two individuals lost their lives in a police firing incident involving a defiant three-wheeler at Millawa Puwakwatta on the Padukka Moragahahena road.
The sequence of events unfolded when law enforcement personnel signaled the three-wheeler to halt at the Meepe Deluketiya police roadblock. Ignoring the directive, the three-wheeler attempted to evade capture, prompting a pursuit by the police.
Regrettably, the pursuit ended in tragedy as police gunfire claimed the lives of two occupants of the fleeing three-wheeler. A third individual managed to flee the scene on foot.
However, authorities maintain that the three-wheeler’s occupants resorted to violence, allegedly firing at the police before attempting to escape. Subsequent investigations revealed the presence of a pistol near the scene, indicating potential involvement in criminal activities by the deceased individuals.
