Former President of Russia Calls for Death Penalty for the Moscow Attack Perpetrators

Dmitry Medvedev, former President of Russia and current Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, has issued a stark statement in response to the recent terrorist attack in Moscow, advocating for the killing of all those implicated in the atrocity.

Following the deadly assault on Crocus City Hall, where nearly 140 individuals lost their lives and over 180 sustained injuries, Medvedev declared that the perpetrators and masterminds of the attack should be mercilessly eliminated.

Four suspects have been apprehended in connection with the attack, two of whom have already confessed in court. While they are set to be detained until the end of May, Medvedev asserted that all individuals involved should face life imprisonment, with some questioning whether they will face death. Medvedev emphasized the necessity of killing all those implicated, including those who provided financial support, sympathized with the accused, or aided them.

Expressing determination to seek revenge for every victim of the attack, Medvedev underscored the imperative of this pursuit as the country’s primary objective. His remarks coincide with increasing calls from Russian lawmakers to reintroduce the death penalty, which has been outlawed in the country since 1996. Despite its inclusion in the Russian Criminal Code, courts have refrained from implementing the death penalty, but Medvedev’s statements reflect a shifting sentiment towards its reinstatement in response to grave acts of terrorism.
