Kensington Palace has announced that the Princess of Wales will undergo a period of recovery for up to two weeks following planned abdominal surgery.

The procedure, described as successful, was not cancer-related, and the princess is expected to abstain from royal duties for several months. The palace did not disclose specific details about her condition, emphasizing her desire for personal medical information to remain private. The surgery took place at The London Clinic, and the princess is expected to continue her recovery at home in Windsor.

The Prince of Wales also will not undertake official duties during this period. The announcement coincided with Buckingham Palace revealing that King Charles III would receive treatment for an enlarged prostate. The Palace assured that his condition is benign, and he is scheduled for a corrective procedure next week. Both statements emphasized the desire for privacy and limited updates on the royals’ medical conditions.*

Kensington Palace stated that the princess appreciates the public’s interest but hopes for understanding regarding her wish to maintain normalcy for her children. Updates will be provided only when significant new information emerges.

The princess, aged 42, had a full December diary with no apparent signs of illness during public appearances. Recuperation from the surgery, which occurred yesterday (16) may extend up to three months, indicating the significance of the procedure. The London Clinic, where the princess is recovering, is described as the UK’s largest independent private hospital.

Upon discharge, the princess is expected to return home to Windsor, where she resides with Prince William and their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The announcements sparked media interest, with TV cameras and reporters gathering near the hospital. The royals’ commitment to privacy regarding their health conditions reflects standard practice for senior members of the monarchy.
