Three girls from the Hatamuna Girls’ Children’s Home in Higurakgoda were apprehended by the Higurakgoda Police yesterday (12) evening while attempting to run away. The girls, under the care of the Probation and Child Protection Department, are presently in police custody.

The incident unfolded as the three girls attempted to escape from the Hatamuna Children’s Home. A group of police officers, led by Sub Inspector Susanta of Higurakgoda Police, successfully detained the individuals in Higurakgoda town and subsequently handed them over to the custody of the Higurakgoda Police.

The warden residing at Polonnaruwa Hospital Junction, associated with the children’s home, has been notified about the situation. In response to the incident, a police team, under the direction of Polonnaruwa Senior Superintendent of Police Nishan De Silva, including officers from the Higurakgoda Police Station, is conducting additional investigations.
