Sri Lanka Cricket officially lodged a complaint with the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission against former Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe. The complaint alleges the misuse of funds provided by the Sri Lanka Cricket, intended for the development of various sports in Sri Lanka through the National Sports Fund.
The cricket association claimed that Roshan Ranasinghe failed to adequately disclose the use of the allocated funds for their intended purposes. The decision to file the complaint was based on the perceived disparity between Ranasinghe’s public statements and the information obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.
In its statement, Sri Lanka Cricket emphasized the importance of financial integrity and ensuring funds are utilized for their designated purposes. The cricket board expressed its commitment to upholding high standards of governance and ethics in sports.
Former Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe vehemently denied the allegations, asserting that the funds were utilized for official Sports Ministry activities and underwent auditing by the ministry.
