Sports Minister Harin Fernando has removed Arjuna Ranatunga, the former President of the National Sports Council. The decision comes after strong dissatisfaction was expressed by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board Chairman, Shammi Silva, and the cricket team over Arjuna Ranatunga’s appointment.
In response, the Sports Minister disbanded the former members of the National Sports Council and appointed 15 new members. Dr. Maiya Gunasekar has been named as the new Chairman of the National Sports Council. The official list of appointments is provided in the image below:
