The Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment has unveiled a new plan to enhance Japanese language education for Sri Lankan youth. This initiative, backed by Minister Manusha Nanayakkara, seeks to prepare the younger generation for employment opportunities in Japan under the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) and the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) program.

Minister Nanayakkara highlighted the significance of addressing language and cultural barriers, stating, “Japan presents many opportunities for young men and women, offering a valuable chance to grow professionally and acquire new skills.”

The proposal involves collaborating with licensed agencies to bring qualified Japanese teachers, including retired educators, to Sri Lanka.

Minister Nanayakkara emphasized that maintaining high education standards is crucial. “Ensuring this facility is available only through licensed recruitment agencies is crucial. This measure aims to maintain a high standard of education, ensuring that our youth can compete on an equal footing with international counterparts,” he said.
