An intruder in the former AG’s private office

The Criminal Investigation Department has initiated investigations into an intruder who entered the office of former Attorney General Dappula de Livera and disappeared with a file after ruffling up the office.

The man is reported to have come in a white van.

The Criminal Investigation Department, which took over the investigations conducted by the Narahenpita Police on a directive of the Inspector General of Police, informed the court about the matter.

The CID told the court that the complaint states that an unknown person entered the former AG’s office at Longdon Place Colombo 07 on the night of November 11, 2022, and fled with one file.

The Criminal Investigation Department informed the court that, according to the CCTV footage, a person was observed inside the AG’s office. He spent nearly ten minutes in the office and fled with a file.

The Special Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department reported to the court that the CCTV footage related to this incident has been sent to the Forensic Digital Laboratory of the Criminal Investigation Department and the related reports have not yet been received.

They have also informed the court that this investigation has been initiated based on a complaint by the former Attorney General to the Inspector General of Police that his safety has been compromised due to this incident.

The Criminal Investigation Department also reported that the investigation would be conducted to arrest the suspect.
