Non-governmental organizations in possession of World Bank funds granted to these organizations to eliminate malnutrition had been compelled to grease the palms of Health Ministry officials to disburse the money to the needy.

The World Bank has funded NGOs to eliminate malnutrition among children and pregnant mothers in this country, but since those NGOs do not have adequate information on malnutrition and areas where the funds should be distributed, they have sought information from the government health sector, whose officials have declined to provide the necessary information, a ministry official said. .

As a result, he said, the non-governmental organizations had to donate money as a meal and travel allowance to the health officials participating in a two-hour workshop in each district.
