Sri Lanka Cricket Appoints Craig Howard as National Bowling Coach

Sri Lanka Cricket has announced the appointment of Australian national Craig Howard as the new permanent national bowling coach. This move comes after terminating the contract of the former Sri Lankan national bowling coach, Piyal Wijetunga, due to consistent performance issues.

Craig Howard brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been a first-class cricketer and holding a third-level coaching qualification from Cricket Australia. Prior to joining Sri Lanka Cricket, Howard served as the spin coach for the New Zealand White Ferns and the Victorian men’s first-class team.

His two-year contract with Sri Lanka Cricket commenced on Thursday (01). Craig Howard is set to assume his duties with the national team during the ongoing ODI series of Afghanistan’s tour of Sri Lanka.
