Imprisoned Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Ranjan Ramanayake will only spend two years and eight months in prison according to the Ministry of Justice. He was sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment this week by the SUpreme Court after being found guilty for contempt of court.
According to the Ministry, a prison term of one year is now equalled to eight months and therefore one year and four months from the original sentence handed over to Ramanayake will be reduced. This would then only require him to serve a sentence of two years and eight months.
