Professor of Community Medicine Manuj Weerasinghe

There is no religion in the world that has acted against the Covid 19 vaccination and the Middle East is one of the first regions in the world to administer the vaccine, Professor Manuj Krishantha Weerasinghe, of Community Medicine at the University of Medical Faculty said today. Speaking at a media briefing held at the Media Center for National Development in Colombo today, Prof. Weerasinghe said that no religious ideology has influenced the use of this vaccine. He pointed out that accepting the vaccine has become a common feature of all religions around the world.

“There are many medical systems in the world, and we must acknowledge that each aspect of the medical system has been particularly successful. Vaccination is one of the most effective treatment methods in Western medicine. It is a fact that is accepted by any medical professional.

However, there have been protests in the world against this vaccination. The history of vaccination is about 170 years. During this time every time an important vaccine was introduced in the world, business protests arose against it. Smallpox, measles, and mumps, especially when the rabies vaccine was introduced, were said to be toxic. There were rumors back then that Kovid was now injecting computer chips.

They use different arguments there. Some say that it is not suitable for indigenous medicine. However, the Ayurvedic and Indigenous Unani Allopathic medicine used in the country today accepts this injection given by Western medicine in any of these medical methods.
Prof. Weerasinghe further stated that there is a commercial motive and agenda behind many of the individuals who are opposed to this vaccine and while looking into one doctor who recently took to social media to protest against vaccination, he found evidence that he was carrying out this protest with the intention of selling another drug.’
