The Sri Lankan Airlines flight UL-605, which was scheduled to arrive from Melbourne, landed in Colombo after being delayed for more than 30 hours due to a technical glitch.

The national airline spokesperson said it arrived in Sri Lanka safely with 218 passengers and 17 crew members on board.

This flight was scheduled to leave Melbourne at 4.10 p.m. on Saturday (15) and was scheduled to reach Sri Lanka at 10:25 p.m. on the same day.

But after a technical fault was noticed, the flight was rescheduled to take off at 4.30 p.m. on Sunday after attending to the issue.

But the scheduled time of the flight was changed for the second time, and the flight UL-605 to Colombo was delayed again because the error could not be corrected in the first instance.

In this situation, a team of six engineers was sent to Melbourne on Saturday night (15) to correct the technical faults in the plane.

However, after being delayed for more than 30 hours, the flight UL 605 returned to Katunayake Airport this morning (17).

In an inquiry made in this regard, airport sources revealed that many serious problems have arisen internally regarding the maintenance of old aircraft owned by SriLankan Airlines.

Those sources said that there had been an issue in sending experienced engineers, and three flights with SriLankan Airlines were forced to be canceled yesterday alone.
