Two new commissions proposed under 21st amendment!

 

Under the 21st amendment which is scheduled to be presented at the tomorrow cabinet meeting has proposed two new commissions in addition to commissions had with under 19th amendment,the Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapaksa told today.

The two commissions are the Audit Services Commission and the Procurement Commission.

These commissions will provide the necessary funding to prevent bribery and corruption in the public sector.

According to the Minister the amendment to the new constitution empowers the Constitutional Council to appoint the Governor of the Central Bank, and the Minister says that dual citizens are barred from representing Parliament.

It is also said to have more democratic features than the 19th Amendment.

The Prime Minister, the Minister of Justice, Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Attorney General, the legal draftsman and several other lawyers have participated in drafting the final draft of the new constitution Minister Rajapakse further stated.
