A top-level US delegation has arrived in Sri Lanka this morning under strict security measures sources said.
Although they arrived secretly without giving publicity all necessary security arrangements were in place to take the delegation from Katunayake Airport to Colombo.
According to the sources, the delegation arrived here in a special US aircraft and it was escorted by a US fighter jet.
Airport sources report that in addition to the jet in which the delegation arrived, an escort fighter jet has also arrived at the Katunayake airport.
It is also reported that an American warship is anchored in the sea near Colombo.
The Katunayake-Colombo Expressway was closed this morning and this very special mission team has reached Colombo with the protection of 16 escort vehicles.
As the opening of the new premises of the American Embassy in Colombo is taking place today, it is learned that this extraordinary group may have come to Sri Lanka to join it.
