A Taiwanese tourist was robbed near the Galle Fort

Galle Police are conducting inquiries into an incident where a snatch robber got away with the handbag of a Taiwanese lady near the entrance to the Galle Fort.

The police said there were many belongings worth nearly one hundred and fifty thousand rupees, including four credit cards, US dollars, Taiwan currency, and Sri Lankan currency, when the bag was snatched.

A group of 20 people, including this Taiwanese woman, had come to visit the Galle Fort. After touring the fort, they were returning to the main gate of the fort, where their bus was parked, when the robber got away with her belongings and her black wristband. The police said that the suspect in the robbery fled the scene with an accomplice on a motorcycle.

It is stated in her complaint to the police that she had her passport, four credit cards, 320 US dollars, 6500 Taiwanese currency, and 9500 Sri Lankan currency in the handbag.
