SriLankan Airlines has been honoured as the ‘Best Airline for South Asia’ at the prestigious International Tourism Conclave and Travel Awards held recently in Delhi, India. This accolade reinforces the airline’s leading position in the South Asian aviation sector, celebrating its expansive route network, signature Sri Lankan hospitality, and strong engagement with regional travellers.

The award was conferred by a distinguished panel of industry experts and jury members, recognizing SriLankan’s consistent excellence in service and connectivity across the South Asian region.

Dimuthu Tennakoon, Head of Commercial at SriLankan Airlines, commented:
“Receiving this award further validates our unwavering commitment to delivering an exceptional travel experience to our customers in South Asia. Our extensive connectivity across key markets, combined with our renowned service, make us the preferred choice for travellers in this part of the world. This recognition inspires us to continue pushing boundaries in our quest to enhance both the travel experience and our network, so we can serve our customers even better in the future.”

SriLankan Airlines currently operates nearly 90 weekly flights between India and Colombo, with multiple daily connections from major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru, as well as strong service from Tier 2 cities.

The airline was the first international carrier to launch operations to Tiruchirappalli, where it now operates eight weekly flights. It also offers six weekly flights to Madurai, four weekly flights each to Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram, and daily flights from Kochi, strengthening its role in catering to India’s booming leisure and VFR (Visiting Friends and Relatives) travel segments.

India remains Sri Lanka’s largest inbound tourism market, accounting for nearly 20% of total arrivals. SriLankan Airlines maintains market leadership on routes connecting Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai with Colombo.

The airline’s fleet of wide-body and narrow-body Airbus aircraft serves South Asia with a comfortable two-class cabin layout. Passengers enjoy a curated blend of regional and international cuisine, including the airline’s award-winning Sri Lankan meals, alongside a rich selection of inflight entertainment and the warm hospitality SriLankan is known for.

SriLankan’s success in the Indian market is further supported by targeted initiatives such as bespoke holiday packages, special promotions, and thematic campaigns like the popular Ramayana Trail, which offers cultural and spiritual journeys to key sites in Sri Lanka. The airline also provides customised MICE travel solutions and supports destination weddings, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s appeal as a premium travel and events destination.
