Sri Lanka Celebrates its 76th Independence Day

The 76th Independence Day celebrations took place in Sri Lanka under the theme ‘Let’s build a new country’ today (04) at Galle Face. The Chief Guest at the event was the Prime Minister of Thailand, Shretha Thavisin, along with a Thai delegation.

A limited number of invited guests, including ambassadors, attended the celebrations. The commemorative parade featured members of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Police, Civil Defense Force, and the National Cadet Corps.

Air Force Commander Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa mentioned that 19 aircraft and new technological products of the Air Force were added to the celebration parade.

The railway department implemented a special traffic plan for the Independence Day celebration, with non-stop train services at specific stations of the Coastal Railway from 5:00 am to 9:00 am today (04).
