The Working Committee of Samagi Janabalawega has unanimously decided to field Member of Parliament Mujibar Rahuman as the contestant for the post of Mayor of the Colombo Municipal Council.
Accordingly, Mujabar Rahman MP will be resigned from his position as a Member of Parliament and run for the position of Mayor of Colombo Municipal Council in the upcoming LG polls.

In an inquiry made by Sri Lankan MP Mujabar Rahman in this regard, he stated that he would take a decision based on the request of the party and the people.
He further stated that the government is using various tricks to postpone the local government elections scheduled to be held in Wetta and that it is dedicated to defeating it and restricting the voting rights of the people.
