Lankasara was the first to report his brother’s involvement in the Anawilundawa incident.

Following is the interview with Sanath Nishantha .

Announcer: Are you involved in the Anavilundawa incident?

Sanath Nishantha – I have no connection to it

Announcer: Then why is your brother being sought by the police?

Sanath Nishantha: I have heard that one of the arrested persons said that my brother had said he would make the license and asked him to prepare for shrimp farming.

Announcer: Then why is he hiding?

Sanath Nishantha: The police had asked him to appear in courts the next day. I think it will do so. This is a large area of about 200 acres leased by Mr. JR Jayewardene in 1986 to a company called Carson.A company called Carson left this in 1996 at a loss. From that time onwards, the farmers in this area leased it and carried on with a license.

Announcer: When Mr. JR Jayewardene gave this, it was not a sanctuary. At that time this was not named as Ramsar Wetland. But only after that was named as a wetland.

Sanath Nishantha: As far as I can see there is a problem between law and humanity.

Announcer – What side do you choose?

Sanath Nishantha: I have to choose the side of the people.

Announcer: We remember during the Negombo mangrove incident a forest official came and explained the value of oxygen to you. Have you still not understood that lesson?

Sanath Nishantha – I do not understand how oxygen can be lost in a prawn pond that has been in operation since 1996.

Announcer: There are media reports that a group involved in this incident is cultivating coconut in the Adigama incident. That charge is also leveled at you.

Sanath Nishantha: The person who did that was a UNP cadre. OK, I’ll show you if I want.

Announcer: But there is no smoke without a fire right?

Sanath Nishantha – Some people come from political families .. they are good. It doesn’t matter if they cut gravel or clay, they are Alsatian dogs. We are wild dogs. That is the problem. The problem here is that during the last parliamentary election these people tried to defeat us by destroying us through social media.
