PUCSL declined CEB’s request for a power cut today!

The request made by the Electricity Board to interrupt the power today (27) has been rejected by the Public Utilities Commission.

Public Utility Commission Chairman Janaka Ratnayake has written to the Additional General Manager (Transmission) of the Electricity Board, saying that although the Electricity Board has been allowed to interrupt the electricity supply from February 18 to 25, it will not be allowed to cut electricity from January 27 to February 17.

Further commenting, the chairman has mentioned that in order to safeguard the human rights of students who are sitting for G.C.E Advanced level power interruption cannot be administered during the exam period.

Copies of this letter have also been forwarded to the Chairman and General Manager of the Electricity Board
