The President has instructed Minister of State Prof. Channa Jayasumana to import the Molnupiravir Covid pill recommended by the World Health Organization through the State Pharmaceutical Corporation in the same manner as the Covid vaccine.
The decision was taken at a special committee chaired by the President today (26).
The President Rajapaksa instructed to provide the vaccine with mobile service to all those over 60 years of age after receiving the second dose of Covid vaccine, and to those over 60 years of age who come to the hospital medical clinics for the second time. The President also has instructed the health authorities to give the third dose to all those over the age of 20 who are suffering from non-communicable diseases.
Accordingly, the third dose of the vaccine is given to cancer patients, cancer patients, organ transplant patients, hemorrhagic patients and all those who are immuno compromised due to a non-communicable disease.
The Director General of Health, Specialist Dr. Asela Gunawardena has stated that the group can receive the third dose at the relevant clinic or at the office of the Medical Officer of Health in the area every Saturday.
