Police to investigate missing firearms from  Avenra Garden Hotel after three months

The Information desk of the Inspector General of Police has announced that four firearms belonging to the owner of Avenra Garden Hotel Negombo have disappeared during the riots that took place on the 9th and 10th of May.

Two repeater-type firearms, a 0.38 revolver and a 12-bore gun, were among the missing firearms.

The owner complained to the Negombo Police Station on the 11th that the firearms were missing.

Three months after that, last Thursday (11), the police headquarters d messaged all police stations and criminal investigation units in all divisions, informing them to conduct extensive investigations into the missing firearms.

Reports said that the police suspect these firearms have fallen into the hands of criminal elements.
