Pohottuwa rallies come to a screeching halt

Along with the threat of a possible second wave of Covid 19, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has decided to postpone its election rallies. The decision has been taken based on the directives of the National Organizer of the party, Basil Rajapaksa.

Despite the spread of Covid 19, the party had been holding a large number of rallies led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in recent times. Footage from the rallies showed little adherence to the Covid 19 guidelines set by the government and social distancing rules.

However, with a new cluster emerging from the Kandakadu Drug Rehabilitation Center the party has decided to halt all rallies which were to be held on 13, 14 and 15 led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. Directives have also been issued to limit smaller meetings and rallies while adhering to Covid 19 guidelines at all times.
