PM Ranil thanks to India & Japan over initiative of aid consortium for SL!

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has expressed his gratitude for the positive response from India and Japan on the proposal made for the Quad members (USA, India, Japan, and Australia) to take the lead in setting up a foreign aid consortium to assist Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, the United States, India, Japan and Australia, members of the four-party Security Dialogue, have set up the aid group, led by India and Japan.

Prime Minister Wickremasinghe had mentioned this in a post on his official Twitter account. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said in his Twitter that he has a discussion with Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman. In this regard, Prime Minister Wickremasinghe expressed his gratitude to Sri Lanka for India’s support during the difficult period.

Mr. Wickremasinghe also said in his Twitter post that he hopes to further strengthen relations between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said on his Twitter account that he had contacted members of the International Monetary Fund via the internet and discussed the country’s economic program.

Mr. Wickremasinghe further stated that steps will be taken to expedite the discussions accordingly.
