The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has extended the expiry date of the Pfizer vaccine from six to nine months and approved the emergency use of the vaccine by Pfizer.

Boxes and vials of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine can be effective for another three months beyond the expiry date printed on the label as long as the specified cold chain control is operative and maintained. The ideal temperature for the vaccine storage is between -90°C to -60°C (-130°F to -76)

The FDA says it may not be suitable to store within a temperature range of-25°C to -15°C and extend the expiry date.

Pfizer has announced updated expiry dates for the vaccines stored and maintained in deep cold storage under specified conditions.
