Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa Considers Presidential Run

Minister of Justice and Prisons, Wijedasa Rajapaksa, has revealed that he is contemplating running for the presidency following invitations from various quarters, including the public and religious leaders.

Addressing the media today (16), Rajapaksa stated, “A large number of groups have made requests to me, especially the vast majority of those who represent the Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. Also, our honorable Theros and leaders of other religions have made the same request. After thinking about it further, I will proceed. I will take a decision in a few weeks.”

When questioned about his potential candidacy’s affiliation, Rajapaksa responded, “People have no faith in any political party in our country today. That’s why the next election will be a very different election, and a decisive election. There will be no voters in the future who will vote according to the party. People will think about voting according to the person who is presented.”
