Minister requests IGP a probe on forcibly entered employees to CPC premises

Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has requested the Inspector General of Police (IGP), to investigate that the group of persons who forcibly entered the Kolonnawa, Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd (CPSTL) premises on 28 March.

He is making this request after 20 union leaders were sent on compulsory leave and barred from entering the oil storage terminal.

The union action began in protest against the privatization of the Petroleum Statutory Corporation.

The minister issued a message on Twitter today and stated that according to the Cabinet decision taken last Monday. Sinopec, United Petroleum, RM Parks & and Shell companies are slated to issue retail licenses to operate 150 petrol stations each operated by CPC distributors.
