King Charles and Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom have embarked on a three-day state visit to France, commencing their journey with a formal ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe.
The British monarch was warmly welcomed by French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, and during the ceremony, King Charles had the honor of relighting the flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a poignant symbol of remembrance.
As part of their visit, King Charles engaged in diplomatic discussions with President Macron at the Élysée Palace. The day’s events culminate with a state dinner hosted at the illustrious Palace of Versailles.
Originally scheduled for March, the state visit was postponed due to widespread protests in France over proposed pension reforms.
Tonight’s banquet promises to be a star-studded affair, with notable guests including Hugh Grant, Arsène Wenger, and Didier Drogba joining King Charles and Queen Camilla in celebrating the diplomatic ties between the United Kingdom and France.
