India Lifts Export Ban on Onions for Sri Lanka

The Government of India has announced the lifting of the export ban on onions for Sri Lanka. According to a press release by the High Commission of India in Colombo, today (16), the Indian government has permitted the export of up to 10,000 metric tons (MT) of onions to Sri Lanka, as outlined in the notification issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.

This shows India’s commitment to its Neighbourhood First policy and adds a flavor of generosity to the ongoing Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations in Sri Lanka.
