In the spirit of Christmas, the High Commission of India in Colombo, through its Consulate in Jaffna, extended a helping hand to underprivileged students in Mullaitivu. On behalf of the Indian government and its people, Consul General Sai Murali distributed school bags, notebooks, and study kits to 400 students in Mulliyawalai, Mullaitivu District.
The event, held ahead of the festive season, saw Consul General Murali as the Chief Guest, joined by notable figures such as Rev. JJ Sarangapani, Founder & President of Mizpah Prayer Missionary Church, Brigadier Jayavinth of the 59 Division, as well as principals, teachers, parents, and youth from the local community.
Speaking at the event, the Consul General expressed gratitude to the Mizpah Prayer Missionary Church for collaborating in this initiative, embodying the Christmas spirit of sharing, love, and kindness. He emphasized India’s ongoing commitment to supporting Sri Lankan students, referencing strong educational ties with institutions like the University of Jaffna and the Eastern University.
“This effort marks the beginning of many initiatives aimed at the holistic development of Mullaitivu,” said Mr. Murali, reaffirming India’s dedication to fostering welfare and education for deserving students in the region.
This gesture not only brought festive joy but also reinforced the bond of goodwill and collaboration between India and Sri Lanka.
