The government has allocated 80 million rupees for the 77th Independence Day celebrations, according to the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, Dr. A.H.M.H. Abeyratne.

The minister also noted that separate budgets exist for other institutions, such as the armed forces, in addition to this 80 million rupees.
However, he emphasized that the ministry aims to limit expenses within the allocated funds.
Speaking at today’s government press briefing, Army Commander Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo stated that 4,421 armed forces and police personnel will participate in the Independence Day parade.
This includes:
2,052 personnel from the Sri Lanka Army
668 from the Sri Lanka Navy
776 from the Sri Lanka Air Force
549 from the Police and Special Task Force
370 from the Civil Security Force
550 from the National Cadet Corps
