The Inspector General of Police forwarded the reinstatement order to the head of the Special Task Force yesterday.

The interdiction was carried out subject to the covering approval of the Public Service Commission under the powers given to the Inspector General of Police under the provisions of the administrative regulations. The allegations against the SSP were his failure to prevent the attack on Sirasa journalists in front of Ranil Wickramasinghe’s private residence.

After this attack, a mob set fire to Ranil Wickramasinghe’s private house.

Several journalists, including members of the Sirasa media team, were injured and taken to the hospital due to the police attack.
