Government shuts down Public Utilities Commission

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harsha De Silva has accused the government of shutting down the power and energy regulator, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka.

Tweeting, De Silva presented the proof by way of a letter sent by the Secretary to the President, P.B Jayasundara to the Secretary to the Treasury S.R Attygalle directing him to take the necessary procedural steps to close the PUCSL and to absorb the technical staff to the Department of National Planning. It also directs Attygalle to deploy staff to the Ministry of Power and the Presidential Secretariat depending on their competencies.
