Fumigation programs against the breeding of Dengue vectors have been hampered by an acute shortage of chemicals despite dengue being reported on a large scale across the island sources in the Ministry of Health stated.
Due to this shortage, the fumigation activities in some areas have come to a complete standstill, the sources further revealed.

Meanwhile, a ministry spokesperson stated that even though diesel should be used with chemicals for fumigation, they are refusing to provide fuel from gas stations as the machines have not been given a QR code.
The spokesman said that at a time when there is a high dengue epidemic, the failure of mosquito control activities could be a reason for the epidemic to get worse.
