Buddhi Prabodha Karunaratne, a front-line activist in the people’s struggle that started in Sri Lanka on March 30, 2022, has died.
The cause of death is yet to be determined but is suspected to be suicide.
“Tomorrow, I will carry a board and go down the road alone. This is not right. At least one person should go down to the road in front of their own house.” His Facebook post on March 29, 2022, was a controversial post to start the struggle again.
Buddhi, an old Anandian and a law graduate from the University of London was also a young journalist who worked for the Ceylon Today newspaper.
He was also a creative writer attached to one of the most popular websites, Roar LK, and a popular blogger, as well as a popular social media activist.

A man should have a deadline that he knows the exact dates for—a “deadline” in the literal sense of the word. At least I personally think there should be one.
Speaking of eliminating the possibility of “sudden” death from an unavoidable cause, I would like a society and a civilization where it is normal for people to end their lives in a manner of their choosing at a date, time, and place of their own preference. I think that fact has a good effect on society in general.
Although that is unusual in the social value system we live in today, there was someone who did it 26 centuries ago. The person who did it called it abandoning the culture of life. That may not fit the current value system of the civilization we live in, but I think it may happen in the future.
I’ve been living with my deadlines for quite some time now. Even from that time I barely understood, I was at the point where I didn’t want the longest life. I have had enough now; the extra days that I live after I have reached the point where I say enough are just an unnecessary effort. I imagine that these are going to be the last tiring and boring days of my life.
