Nilupulu Rajapaksa, the son of Kandy District MP Gunathilaka Rajapaksa says that his father underwent a four-hour-long surgery for the injuries that occurred due to the assault by former minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage. Also, he has filed a complaint with the Fort Police today (04) claiming that Aluthgamage had broken his father’s leg.
Speaking to the media Nilupul Rajapaksa said:
“There was an argument in the group meeting of government MPs that took place yesterday at the Presidential Secretariat. After the group meeting ended, there was a conflict between the two. At that time, Mahindananda Aluthgamage grabbed my father Gunathilaka Rajapaksa by the collar of his shirt and kicked him. Then he pushed my father. ”
“Due to the fall, my father’s leg has cracked above the ankle. My father underwent an operation today. My father is currently in the intensive care unit. I went to the Fort Police today and filed a complaint in this regard.”
Nilupul Rajapaksa said.
The police say that the complaint has been received from only one party. The Police Media Spokesperson says that a firm decision can be taken after taking note of the evidence of the other party, only then can it be concluded what has happened at that place.
“According to the information we have received, it is because of an argument that Gunathilaka Rajapaksa MP has been injured in this mine.”
“Investigations are underway within the relevant legal framework regarding the incident.” Police media spokesperson said.
Member of Parliament Mahindananda Aluthgamage has emphasized and stated that he did not commit any attack.
