Former Speaker W.J.M Lokubandara has passed away today afternoon at the Infectious Disease Hospital while being treated for COVID-19. He was 79 at the time of his death.
He was Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka from 2004 to 2010 and Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province from 2010 to 2015. He was a lawyer by profession and was also an author of several books and a songwriter. Lokubandara held several ministries in consecutive governments.
