The 23-year-old suspect is said to be a resident of Colombo 12.

While Sri Lanka’s branch of the International Police Association is located at the Police Field Force Headquarters he had visited the branch claiming to an IP attached to the CID and that he needed an International Police Association ID. However suspicious of the man’s behaviour the officers there had questioned him.

The ID of the association is only issued to registered members and ID holders can often obtain Visas for foreign countries easily. The association members are also given priority at Police stations across the world in case of an emergency or if faced with any issue.

The arrested man has been handed over to the Narahenpita Police fur further questioning. Police sources said the intentions of the man to attempt to obtain an ID is highly suspicious. Sources also said he has been giving contradictory statements during questioning. Investigations to continue.
