covid

The World Health Organization (WHO) says that the Delta (B.1.617) strain of the Covid 19 virus has now spread across 92 countries and that it is essential to take both doses of any vaccine currently available to get rid of the seriousness of the virus. Says Technical Lead of WHO, Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove. Speaking at a press conference in Geneva, Switzerland last night (21), Dr. Maria said that although there are differences in the way different vaccines work against the virus, in general, each vaccine can protect people from the disease.

The Delta variant was the focus of much of the World Health Organization’s media briefing yesterday. Commenting on a question raised by a journalist, Dr. Maria Kerkhove said that the Delta strain is currently the fastest growing strain of the Covid virus. However, she noted that there was no scientific evidence that it was the most deadly or highly deadly virus.

Although a group of Scottish researchers has suggested that the vaccines may not be effective against the Delta variant she stressed the need for further researches to prove that. Dr.Kerkhove added that although the vaccine was not completely successful in this Delta variant, it could largely control the spread of the virus to patients.

Speaking at the press conference, Dr. Mike Ryan of the World Health Organization said that the Delta strain has become the most established and fittest strain of the virus worldwide. Accordingly, he pointed out that in order to protect the vulnerable and vulnerable people from this strain in particular, they should be vaccinated immediately. However, he noted that many countries around the world have not been able to provide such a vaccine to such vulnerable groups, and that the support of potential countries is crucial.
