The Department of Meteorology has issued a red alert for Heavy Rain, Strong Winds and Rough Seas in the country. According to the Department the low pressure area over Bay of Bengal southeast to Sri Lanka is expected to intensify further into a depression during next 24 hours and intensify further into a cyclonic storm during subsequent 24 hours. “It is likely to move north westwards towards Northeast coast of Sri Lanka on November 24” a release issued by the Department said.
