COPE head Rohitha loses hope of Pohottu high post!

An internal faction has been created in the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, the ruling party of Sri Lanka due to the appointment of Namal Rajapakse instead of Rohitha Abeygunawardena
as the Chief Organizer, internal sources reveal.
Although Chamal Rajapaksa, the eldest member of the Rajapaksa family, has stressed that the position of national organizer of the party should be given to a non-Rajapaksa finally Namal was appointed creating criticism among party stalwarts sources said.
According to sources, it was proposed and agreed that Kalutara District MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena should be appointed for this position, but the decision was suddenly changed and Namal was appointed as the national organizer.
Last week, the executive council of SLPP met at the official residence of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 07, and before that meeting, Mahinda Basil Chamal and members of the Rajapaksa family discussed the position of national organizer. There, Chamal Rajapaksa has said that the position should not be given to a family member until the Rajapaksa agitation in the country is settled. Although the name Rohitha Abeygunawardena was suggested there, in the end, it was decided to appoint Namal Rajapaksa.
Earlier in the week, Namal Rajapaksa was also accused by the Hambantota party activists who represented in a discussion about party reconciliation and election preparations which was held at the Nelum Pokuna party office under the chairmanship of Basil Rajapaksa, accusing him of not participating in the political affairs of the constituency. An English newspaper revealed in its political article last weekend that when Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa was the President of the People, he had used the time to meet the activists of his constituency even at the height of the war, and they had accused Basil Rajapaksa of his son’s lack of interest.
