CJ appoints five-member bench to consider 20A petitions

Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya has appointed a five-member Supreme Court bench to consider the petitions filed against the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.

The bench consists of Chief justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, Buwaneka Aluwihare, Sisira De Abrew, Priyantha Jayawardena and Vijith Malalgoda. The petitions will be taken up for consideration on September 29. A total of eight petitions have been filed by various parties against the proposed 20A draft bill.
