Chinese fertilizer ship returning to China – activates satellite data after 2 months

Satellite data confirms that the controversial bulk carrier Hippo Spirit, the Chinese Fertilizer Ship, now en route to Quingdao , China via Singapore.

The vessel spent nearly 50 days in Sri Lankan waters without activating satellite data , was activated almost two months later.

Accordingly, the ship arrived to Singapore from Colombo on the 9th of this month has commenced its journey to China on the 10th of this month.

The Chinese Fertilizer Company had told the media that it was going for an international arbitration procedure to resolve the issue after the ship sailed to Singapore.

The company said the total value of the contract to be settled in Singapore was $ 49.7 million.

The Hippo Spirit, which has just set sail from Singapore, is scheduled to return to Quingdao on the 19th.
