Ambulance Driver at Murunkan Hospital in Mannar Suspended for Drug Smuggling

The ambulance driver at Murunkan Hospital in Mannar, who was involved in drug smuggling, has been suspended from duty effective immediately. The decision to suspend the driver was made by Mannar Regional Health Services Director V. Vinod.

The driver, who also works at Vavuniya General Hospital, was arrested along with another individual for their involvement in trafficking 179 grams of ice-type drugs. They were apprehended by a group of police officers while attempting to sell the drugs at Murunkan school junction.

During the arrest, the ambulance driver reportedly resisted the police officers and bit them before managing to escape.

The police have brought charges against the other individual involved in the drug trafficking case, while efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the fugitive ambulance driver.

The incident has prompted the suspension of the ambulance driver from Murunkan Hospital, pending further investigation by Mannar Police.
