A gloomy situation on the LRH on the world children’s day

Dr. Santhushitha  Senapati, Deputy Director of the Hospital warns that the laboratory tests in Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital can be limited to next week only due to the lack of laboratory tests erquipments and reagents.

He pointed out that even now only emergency tests are being done in the hospital and with the this situation there is a risk of complete dysfunction of the laboratories.

The deputy director said that although the Ministry of Health has given permission to purchase reagents locally , it will take considerable time to bring them through private companies and the lack of reagents in some companies will further aggravate the problem.

Dr. Senapathi further pointed out that almost 3000 laboratory tests are conducted daily in the hospital to diagnosing and further treating for the children.

In the meantime, the Association of Medical Laboratory Professionals states that due to the lack of reagents in hospitals across the island, it has become impossible to carry out laboratory tests.
