A student from a prominent school in Panadura was injured in an attack involving a bottle shell, according to a spokesperson from Panadura Primary Hospital. The assault was allegedly carried out by another student from the same school, and the injured student has been admitted to the hospital.
The victim, a 12-year-old resident of Panadura’s Nalluruwa area, is currently hospitalized, but their condition is not deemed serious.
Upon receiving a complaint from the injured child’s father, the police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the student who was assaulted had been a target of ridicule by the alleged attacker on previous occasions.
While the assault is linked to actions involving children under 12 years of age, a senior police officer has indicated that no arrests will be made in this case.
Under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Samantha Vedage and Assistant Superintendent of Police Nishantha Senaratne, investigations are currently underway. Headquarter Police Inspector Upul Priyankara is leading the investigative efforts.
